Oh yeah Rachel's! I really don't know why they're considered post-rock though. There's nothing rock about them, they're classical/experimental. I love their music though, and have most of their records. Are you trying to be annoying?

All right. Let´s start with the basics; Set Fire To Flames. Fly Pan Am. I'm sorry, but those two bands are overrated to f**k. If they were not related to Godspeed they'd be nowhere. At all. Other bands I listen to a lot in that specific genre, including ambience/experimental, -similar range; Jesu. Pelican. Bright Red Paper. The Ascent Of Everest. Yndi Halda. Up C Down C. Stars Of The Lid. Mono. Neil On Impression. The Shalabi Effect. Bakunin's Bum. Molasses. Exhaust. Let Airplanes Circle Overhead. Leave Land For Water. The Hope Symphony. Detwiije. Ovum. God Is An Astronaut. The Album Leaf. Magyar Posse. Tortoise. I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness. Growing. Pan American. Esmerine. Tarentel. 65daysofstatic. Remnant. 1 Speed Bike. Hanged Up. Hrsta. Eluvium. Byla. The Postman Syndrome. Gregor Samsa. Toby Driver. Kayo Dot. Valley Of The Giants. Blood And Time. Khanate. Es. Maudlin Of The Well. MGR. Red Sparowes. Foxhole. A Northern Chorus. Efterklang. Mice Parade. Tephra. Asva. Amber Asylum. Unwed Sailor. Maps. Daturah. Et Sans. Exterminating Angels. ...As The Poets Affirm. Shora. From Monument To Masses. This Is Your Captain Speaking. Come Sleep. Don´t Look Back. Sonores. Halcyon High. Escapado. September Malevolence. Mr. 1986. The Evpatoria Report. Et. Kobi. Subtract By Two. Tracer Amc. The Six Parts Seven. Port-Royal. Minsk. Kalpana. Kinesis Sonata. Oaqk. Distances. House Of Low Culture. Emery Reel. Ellis The Vacuumchild. Doveman. Caterpillar Ghost. Our Last Hope Lost Hope. Shifting Sounds Of Thriving Wishes. Into The Heavens, Into The Clouds. Sleep Robot. Collides In Arc. This Will Destroy You. Autumn In May. The Big Sleep. Saxon Shore. The Samuel Jackson Five. Bell Orchestre. Bossk. Youth Pictures Of Florence Henderson. Mountain Men Anonymous. Birds Of Delay. The Polar Dream. Off The International Radar. The Space Between Soundtrack. Sonograph. Because Of Ghosts. Te. Mt. Sofa. Russian Circles. Threemovements. See, this is actually a really good list. However, it makes me uneasy. A lot of the bands on the list are...well...i'm not sure why they're there. I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness are...well, pop. Happy pop. So i'm not sure why you've listened them. The inclusion of Mice Parade, among others also makes me question its merit. I get the distinct impressing you've copied that list, or perhaps, went through the post rock thread on LJ and typed every band you can think of. There is no reason for a list that long, apart from making sure everyone sees your head up your own arse. However, I commend you on the mention of the following UK bands; Let Airplanes Circle Overhead These Monsters…, The Ocean Fracture and Mt.. I know them well. Also, kudos for mentioning Aarktica, Tarentel, Port-Royal and Kayo Dot. Are you trying to be annoying? Are you? No. Can't you see how stupid you're being? " There's nothing rock about them, they're classical/experimental...." Jesus. We know we've hit rock bottom when we start arguing over which genre to place musicians in.

Well. No, don´t get me wrong. I didn´t copy it from anyone.
I didn´t say "including ambience/experimental" for no reason.
Some of the bands are just experimental/alternative/indie-ish, and I realize that.
However, most of the bands are in the "post-rock" genre.

Most 'Post-rock' is pretty boring to me, because it's all basically the same and ripping off of other bands. But I like some original stuff... GY!BE, ASMZ, Sigur Ros, EITS, Pelican, Tortoise, Mogwai, The Evpatoria Report You do realised you just listed a bunch of stereotypical O.C 'post rock' bands that rip each other off? Apart from Tortoise. Okay, I'll defend my answer. GY!BE - They basically invented post rock, they have the most intense songs I have ever heard in my life. And they are completely unique in my mind. ASMZ - Vocals anyone? Sigur Ros - Vocals yet again, they have created their own genre. EITS - Their song structure is alot different than alot of other post-rock bands that I have heard, but mostly, they're just stereotypical I have to admit. Pelican - This band is the most 'metal' of any post-rock band that I have heard, and their song structure varies all the time. Tortoise - VIBES! Mogwai - Cmon, Mogwai isn't stereotypical... they tend to change their style all the time and move in different directions.

elvrum i agree with some of what you say, but there is no need to go round insulting anyone who disagrees with you. everyone disagrees with something another person likes its no bad thing - debate instead of insulting!
you havent got the right to post judgement on others taste, and nor do i. or indeed anyone

I don't understand why the moniker 'post-rock' should be so offensive. It's a simple term, and not even realistically a genre. It's a descriptive term more than anything else.
Anywho...

Sigur Ros vocals sound like Thom Yorke being asked to turn his head and cough. not that that's a bad thing.
I must once again whore the band Jakob though...don't think i saw them anywhere in here.

I'm not near as educated on the boundaries of this term "post-rock", but can we include "El Ten Eleven"? I think they are pretty original and creative (it's only 2 guys!) and I really enjoyed their first album. Are they allowed in with all the heavyweights?

i think nearly every band that could ever be considered 'post-rock' has already been mentioned, but two more that i listen to who are quite good and haven't been mentioned before (i don't think) are:
