the genre 'post - rock' doesnt really make any sense, ive read mogwai say they hate being called post rock
but of bands that are often described as post rock, i like sigur ros, mogwai, slint, gy!be, silver mt zion, do make say think - all diverse bands who are put under that umbrella of post rock i suppose

It's a really silly term, aye.
However, i shall entertain it for just now.
The following bands i listen to have been described, at some point in their career, as 'post rock';
1 Mile North 65daysofstatic A Lily Album Leaf Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto Amina Bardo Pond Belong Caspian Colleen d_rradio Dirty Three Do Make Say Think Efterklang Eluvium Esmerine Fennesz French Teen Idol From Monument To Masses F.S. Blumm Grails Goldmund Gregor Samsa Helios July Skies Khonnor Landing Library Tapes Matinee Orchestra Maybeshewill Max Richter Mogwai One Speed Bike Oxes Piglet Rachel's Re. Rodan Saxon Shore Set In Sand Set Fire To Flames Slint Slowdive Sofa Stars Of The Lid Sweek Sylvain Chauveau Talkdemonic Talkingmakesnosense The Dead Texan This Is a Process of a Still Life This Is Your Captain Speaking Wixel World's End Girlfriend Xela Yndi Halda
Among others.

In that genre, I only really listen to Sigur Ros, Mogwai, and EITS. Everything else just seems the same to me (except for GY!BE being a whole lot more longwinded and less focused).

Anyone know The Redneck Manifesto? Not your "typical" post-rock band insofar that they're a lot more riff based and a lot busier in what they play.
I'm gonna get all indie sub-genre nazi-ish now but elvrum are Slowdive not more shoegaze?

the redneck manifesto rules. also about slowdive, definitely shoegaze. but shoegaze and "post-rock" have their similarities.
