Explosions being on tv, the new album debuting on the Billboard Top 100, all sorts of interviews, that video contest apparently on myspace... I mean, it's truly awesome they're getting the recognition they deserve, but I'm all sorts of uncertain about this What do you guys think?

I was getting the same feeling as you. I hope they won't freak out with all this attention then disappear like Jeff Mangum from Neutral Milk Hotel. But then again, Explosions is a very smart bunch of individuals and I think they'll handle it well... I hope. I dunno, it's so early right now. I get the vibe that they'll still remain loyal to their fans and record label though. But man, competition to buy tickets for shows might increase (which sucks). Anyway, I think they're finally getting the recognition they deserve after all the effort they've given.

they are on the fast track to selling out Nah. They're getting bigger, but I don't think they're going to change who they are and why they're playing music at all.

i agree as well, the members of explosions in the sky are simple people, they love to sleep, and i think they want to keep their life simple as well

well, i heard this before the new album came out. the minimum they charge venues for them to play is a ridiculous amount. i believe the number was around $3,000. this is not a rumor, i read it from someone who was trying to book them in myrtle beach, sc.

they are on the fast track to selling out Nah. They're getting bigger, but I don't think they're going to change who they are and why they're playing music at all. i agree that they're not going to sell out. i think their current live show ticket prices are proof of that. they could be charging much more, like any other band/artist on that billboard top 100. they could also be selling out bigger venues. instead though, the good-natured guys keep it to the small intimate venues as best they can while still accommodating for their rapidly increasing fan base. and if a venue sells out in record time (like in toronto) they add another show during their would-be off-night to allow those who-missed out to get a second chance. however, i also believe it is inevitable that their new fame and popularity is going to have some effect on the band. they're human afterall. in the famous words of eits themselves, "how strange, innocence." hopefully they're not affected too adversely though. but like ya said melody, i dont see them forgetting what the music's all about, either. that's one of the advantages of making music that everyone gets their own meaning out of. =)

that's legit that they are blowing up like they are. i don't see them selling out or anything like that...but i mean they could be like some bands that get big for like a month and then go back to being not so noticed.

i think the band will always focus on making music and playing live, we must remember they have lives and families to pay for. saw the astoria show last week in london and they were still fantastic live
