If a person is quite new to the "post-rock" (-yea, yea, you hate that expression, I don´t care!) genre, what bands would you directly recommend?
If the person only knows of staple bands as; Mogwai, Sigur Rós, EITS and Godspeed, you´d start with?

Then I´m not really talking about all of the bands you´re listening to in this specific genre. Just some basic bands the person should check out to get the feeling there´s more out there.
I wouldn´t recommend 300 bands at ones, maybe just 3 of them.

I have to agree with this one.
I myself would say; Mono, The Ascent Of Everest and Do Make Say Think.
That would make a great start, I guess.

I also say Mono, as well as Pelican (if you're into more heavy rock) and Tortoise.

Id reccommend Oceanic by Isis, and possibly True Nature Unfolds by Callisto.

Isis and Red Sparrowes. The new albums have owned my soul this year. Man, that record was so lame. Just about as lame as the song titles. And it's one R, by the way.

the new red sparowes joint was kind of blah. new isis, however, definitely killed. fans of mogwai should check out new zealanders Jakob. consistently good, very dark and atmospheric instrumentals, and surprisingly dense for a 3-piece.
if you just enjoy general "rock" bands with a good sense of texture and dynamic, Jeniferever and the new Appleseed Cast album are also noteworthy.
