I would go for the canon for no other reason than the name. I haven't looked at the specifications of either cameras. I have the Canon 350D xt and I really like it. I suggest picking up the 50mm f/1.8 as well.

my eye for photography may be considered to be different, you should defiantly be able to notice a difference in my most recent photos. hoping to get a film camera soon! enjoy!
